Valorant crosshair placement: the Silver-to-Gold fix
If you keep losing duels you 'should' have won, the problem is often not your aim. It is where your crosshair was before the enemy appeared. Four habits fix most of it.
1. Keep it at head height
Hold your crosshair where an enemy's head will be when they peek, not on the floor and not in the sky. Then a fight starts with a small adjustment instead of a big flick.
A simple check: walk around a map in a custom game and watch your crosshair. Every time it drops to the floor, you just gave away a duel.
2. Pre-aim the common angles
Before you reach a corner, doorway or window, line your crosshair up with the spot where an enemy usually stands. When they appear, you are already on them.
3. Adjust when the height changes
Head height moves when you go up stairs, onto boxes, or when the enemy is above or below you. Raise or lower your crosshair as you move, so it stays where heads will be.
4. Clear angles one at a time
Don't drag your crosshair along a wall while you walk out. Step out a little, check one angle with your crosshair already on it, then the next. Swinging the crosshair around a corner is the riskiest way to peek.
How to practice it
- Before ranked, spend 5 minutes walking one map in a custom game, holding head height on every angle.
- In your next games, pick one site and pre-aim the same 3 angles every time you enter.
- After a loss, clip the duel and check where your crosshair was one second before the enemy appeared.
